New Zealand: Forestry is not what they claim it to be

Having recently returned from New Zealand/Oz I was shocked and
disappointed by the forestry in New Zealand….sterile looking
monoforests of perfectly formed rows and rows of pine trees and/or
vast swaths of clearcuts along the highways, amongst the miles and
miles of green pastoral lands created by the European settles less
than 160 years ago, devoid of any indigenous flora and marine birds.
Some people say New Zealand has beautiful scenery and reminds them of
Canada but of the 2/3’s of the country we saw by car I would say, ‘no
it doesn’t’ but I guess ‘it could if we don’t have strict controls’.
It appears that the ‘involved’ big ENGO’s have us duped but what can
we do about it?

How can we challenge their credibility so that they
are no longer speaking for the ‘conservationists’ of BC and quoted in
the BC gov’t press releases. They fill their websites with claims to
saving the GBR and send out millions of letters for donations
etc…They need to suffer from some negative PR by the people that live
in the regions and know what has been done and what needs to be done.
We need a plan to fight the Greenwash PR with REALGreen Locally
produced PR….cut the BS once and for all.? Suggestions? Barb Murray,
