Australia: One arrest in direct action against political leaders who destroyed Chester forest

Today at 8am a protester unhappy with the Forest Products Commission‘s logging of WA’s Native forests locked on at FPC headquarters in Perth. A 30 year old man was arrested. The activist was jumped upon by a WA Police officer while locked on to the vehicle.

Activists say the officer was upset with the “no comment legal option” of all citizens. Mr Cody was taken away and charged with trespass. A spokesperson for the action says: “we asked that Dr Paul Biggs be sacked for financial mismanagement. This was on the basis that they would be logging Chester Forest (some of the highest bio-diversity on the planet) at a loss. $56,000 will be the net revenue and the costs will be huge…”

The group is calling for an immediate moratorium on the logging of all native forest coupes that will be logged at a loss. In this so called economic crisis one way to save money is to stop bureaucrats wasting public resources on unprofitable industries, he said.

A red Mazda, the big bosses car, was locked on to. It did not take long for the corporate bosses to ring the police and fire and rescue to deal with this naughty protester. The activist – Ben Cody, was jumped upon by a WA Police officer while locked on to the vehicle.

Activists say the officer got upset with the “no comment legal option” of all citizens. Mr Cody was taken away and charged with trespass. Simon Petterffy, a spokesperson for the action says: “the gist of the action was that we asked that Dr Paul Biggs be sacked for financial mismanagement.

This was on the basis that they would be logging Chester Forest (some of the highest bio-diversity on the planet) at a loss. $56,000 will be the net revenue and the costs will be huge…”

Mr Petterffy says ongoing surveys, 5km of roads, logging, hauling, regeneration monitoring etc, “will be a huge loss for the Western Australian public financially as well as ecologically.”

It’s a shame they’re logging the Chester Forest. The forests are so fragile in Australia. I lived there for several years in the the 1960s.
