California: Treesitter fails to protect Tipuana Tipu trees
The treesit that was reported about here: has come to sad end…
Andrew Watkins, 27, wasn’t around to witness the destruction. He left his leafy perch in Orpheus Park during Friday’s rainstorm after telling his supporters that he had received a phone call from the city’s mayor guaranteeing the tree’s survival. That phone call never happened, the city’s mayor said Monday.

Tipuana tipu trees have played a role in the region’s history, local plant experts told the paper. With a swift swipe of a chain saw, the Tipuana tipu tree that a tree-sitter tried to save for a week in Encinitas came down with a

The most famous tipu tree in all of San Diego County is perhaps the one grown from seed by nursery-woman Kate Sessions in the early 1920s, Encinitas arborist Mark Wisniewski told the paper.

Thanks
Great.. More and more trees are cut down.. Who are we kidding with the climate change? We are the reason why our climate is changing and our world is continuously going warmer and warmer.
Flapper: STOP the climate change nonsense comment! The city promised these owners that NO TREE OR ANYTHING WILL BE PUT IN THAT PARK TO BLOCK VIEWS.
If you would have done some research, Tipus are categorized as a ” INVASIVE WEED” in Australia and South Africa and other US cities and are banned. They have very aggressive roots and leave an enormous amount of tree debris everywhere. The Tipu comes from Brazil and is NOT native to the USA. It is NOT a west coast climate tree. Tipu trees are a nuisance. (I live in L.A., not San Diego).
Nice tree gone, humans are losers!
