Australia: forest defenders being sued return favor by suing the logers who sued ’em

A group of forest activists being sued over a protest at Gunns’
Triabunna woodchip mill have lodged a counter-claim against the timber
company. Gunns is seeking damages from 13 protesters who chained
chained themselves to machinery at its Triabunna mill last December.
The activists have lodged their defence in the Supreme Court in
Launceston and also served a counter-claim on Gunns, seeking an
injunction.

This is What Gunns does to ancient forests:

One of the activists, Warrick Jordan, says the group is alleging Gunns
made misleading representations. “The claim is focusing on the fact
that Gunns Limited has said that no old growth forest and no old
growth logs will be used in its pulp mill,” he said.

A Gunns spokesman has rejected the protesters’ allegations as “typically wild and inaccurate”. He has described the claim as vexatious, saying the
company has made a public commitment not to use old growth logs in the
proposed mill.
