Paintings of the Rainforest

To imagine the rainforest of days gone by, that’s how paintings and
photos of ancient forest stir me. Imagine how the city you live in was
once a wild place with many, many kinds of plants and trees and living
breathing, running, flying things? Imagination is an essential part of
regeneration! http://forestpolicyresearch.com

There are lots of books out there that illustrate the irrevocable
damage that we are doing to the rainforests – but this is one with a
twist.

The images in Rainforest: Light and Spirit are not photographs,
but rather paintings by artist Harry Holcroft who has travelled the
world’s rainforests for the past four years.

Accompanying his
paintings are essays written by Ghillean Prance about Holcroft’s
findings and the importance of the world’s rainforests.

There is also
a foreword from Prince Charles. See a gallery of paintings from the
book http://www.antique-acc.com/accltd/servlet/oase.article.showArticle?art_event=GET_ART&ident=Art&art_vnr=1851495770
