Australia: Still Wild Still Threatened activists arrested shutting down Tasmanian logging

Tasmanian police have been called to another forest protest in the
state’s south. The group, Still Wild Still Threatened, says it has
halted logging in a 54 hectare coupe. The group claims it is adjacent
to informal reserves connected to the World Heritage Area. Christo
Mills from Still Wild Still Threatened says 20 activists have walked
in the coupe to prevent logging.

A woman has been arrested at an anti-logging protest near Maydena in
Tasmania’s south. Police say she was arrested inside a forest
exclusion zone on Waterfall Creek Road and charged with breach of bail
and trespass. Nine others will also be charged by summons with
trespass. The woman is due to appear in court tonight.
