California: Conservation agenda for the SF Bay area…

These maps are from:
http://rare-earth-news.blogspot.com/2009/01/bay-area-conservation-priorities-map.html

They’re a representation of conservation priorities for many counties
surrounding the bay area. Of concern to myself and some of my
affiliates is that Santa Cruz county, a landscape loaded with
conservation priorities, is entirely excluded from the map? In doing a
bit of research we’ve discovered that the map creation process was
facilitated by ABAG: Association of Bay Area Governments. Santa Cruz
County is not a member of that association, but instead is a member of
AMBAG: Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments. We’ll add an
update soon as we can find if AMBAG is working on a similar map, or
more importantly if there is credible coordination between ABAG &
AMBAG. –Deane
