Wisconsin:Help stop the Twin Ghost timber sale
In 2005, Judge Lynn Adelman placed an injunction on further logging in
the Cayuga sale in Ashland County between Mellen and Clam Lake. This
area contains beautiful interior old-growth forest and quality trout
streams. Just last week, in apparent violation of Judge Adelman’s
orders, the Forest Service announced their intention to proceed with
the exact same amount of logging in the same important places for
wildlife habitat and clean water in the Cayuga.
Additionally, they
announced plans to log almost 12,000 acres, including over 2,500 acres
of clearcuts in the brand new Twin Ghost timber sale right next door
to the Cayuga, between Clam Lake and Cable. With the Twentymile
timber sale, between Clam Lake and Drummond, added into the mix the
Forest Service has proposed a whopping 26,000 acres of logging in just
a 20 mile radius around Clam Lake. Only five days left to voice your
concerns! Let the Forest Service know that you care about the
Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Send in your comments by Monday,
December 15th. By mail: Print the comment form and mail it to the
